BMRA: The British Metals Recyling Association
The British Metals Recycling Association was formed in 2001 as an amalgamation of the British Metals Federation and the British Secondary Metals Association, the history going back to the end of the first World War. These Associations now cover ferrous and non-ferrous recycling aspects of the UK from their Headquarters in Brampton in Cambridgeshire. The Association besides representing what is now the membership of both and former bodies takes a lead role in representing metals recycling not just in the UK, but internationally and is headed up by full time staff at their Headquarters; giving them a powerful voice and lobbying force at the highest levels of National and Local Government as well.

London Metal Exchange
The London Metal Exchange is the world centre for industrial metals trading and price-risk management. More than 80% of global non-ferrous business is conducted here and the prices discovered on our three trading platforms are used as the global benchmark.

Recycling
Recycling has a lower carbon footprint than the alternative of digging virgin ore from the ground and helps to preserve stocks of these finite resources for future generations. Furthermore, the processing of recycled metals saves up to 80 percent of the energy which would be required in new production.
